desert trip 2008: brain stew (the godzilla remix)

desert trip with alisa, ashley and mackenzie last weekend was fantastic. too much to say. never have so few people brought SO MUCH food for 4 days of car camping. or so much water. we could have each filled a kiddie pool and soaked in the water we brought. and fed all 60 geology students who invaded our campsite. we stayed at red rock canyon state park, which is about halfway between death valley and mojave national preserve and day-tripped to both places. there's much to share but alas, I am sleepy. so I will leave it to the others to share our stories of desert adventure, as we will all surely blog about our trip. and I will likely offer more another day.

but I do have a special treat for you, which I will preface by saying that camping trip became roadtrip and during roadtrip, we spent many hours listening to this american life (if you haven't listened to the
testosterone episode, you should. it's fascinating.) and singing along to music from my ipod between mouthfuls of handfuls of crumbled snickerdoodles and butterscotch oatmeal cookies (heaven). so while we didn't rocker camp (sorry, shane) we did sing our hearts out (windows down, eyes closed-you can picture it, right?) to beastie boys, janis joplin, eagles, cyndi lauper, U2, REM, jane's addiction, ani difranco, etc, etc. and the classic guilty pleasures: "lady marmalade" and "I will survive". but one song emerged out of our sing-a-longs which, for reasons unknown, outranked all other songs and carried the torch of theme-song throughout the trip. so I present to you a video montage, dressed in theme-song and all. please enjoy.

Holy crap, I just watched that video RIGHT before publishing my freshly written Mojave blog, and I might just go delete it. YOU'RE AWESOME. Best video montage ever. Amy wins.
